Marketing Communications Intern

The Utah Governor's Office of Management and Budget is looking for an enthusiastic summer intern to support its marketing and communications initiatives. The intern will have writing/editing, website, social media, graphic design and content creation duties. This position will be a pivotal part of the GOMB team throughout the summer and will provide a university student or recent graduate with invaluable hands-on experience in a dynamic, professional work environment.
 
This internship will take place from June 1 through August 30. It will require approximately 20 to 25 hours/week. Projects and responsibilities may include:
 
  • Professional, creative writing (following AP Style) to craft relevant and engaging content for multiple platforms
  • Communications projects like newsletters, emails, presentations, infographics, brochures, flyers, etc.
  • Contributions to social media campaigns; monitoring social channels for trending news, ideas and memes
  • Graphic design
  • Media relations support
  • Website maintenance
  • Brainstorming; assisting with communications strategy and concept development
  • Supporting budget, operations and administrative teams on projects as needed
 
Qualifications: 
  • Currently enrolled in marketing, communications, public relations, advertising, graphic design, web development or related program at an accredited university
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong initiative, organizational skills and high attention to detail
  • Dependable and honors commitments
  • Passionate about marketing communications and highly motivated
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, WordPress, Adobe Creative Suite applications (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Respectful; appreciates the benefits of diversity and never discriminates; remains open to new ideas
  • Thinks outside of the box to solve problems and is willing to pitch in and help wherever he/she is needed
 
Not required, but a plus:  
  • Experience with video, audio and editing (Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Photography experience
  • Multimedia production: video and audio creation, editing, publishing
