Sales Associate with Internship Emphasis (Part Time)

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Working as Sales Associate with Internship Emphasis you will have the opportunity to balance formal training with real-world experience leaning about business to business industrial distribution marketplace. It's a great way to learn the ropes of our fast-paced industry and potentially transition into a full-time position. Fastenal Company is currently seeking candidates for a part-time Sales Associate with Internship Emphasis position at our branches located in the Salt Lake metropolitan area.

Departments/ 2 Week Rotation Schedule
·        Sales/ Management (Public Branch, District Management)
·        Lean 6S / Supply Chain (Onsite Branch, Lean Solutions Group)
·        Customer Technology Solutions (Vending , Vendor Managed Inventory, Web/ Ecommerce)
·        Industry Focus (Construction, Safety, Government, Engineering, Machining, National Accounts)
·        Operations/ Distribution (Logistics, Traffic, Warehousing, Shipping, Receiving, Packaging)
·        Corporate Support (Finance, Recruiting, Marketing, Vice President)

TIME FRAME/ SCHEDULE
·        Availability (Spring, Summer, Fall)
·        12 week rotation through multiple departments
·        Monday- Friday (No Weekends)
·        Hour between 7:00AM- 5:00PM
·        Flexible shifts based on class schedule
·        Part time-Full time positions available at end of internship

OBJECTIVES:
·        Intern is exposed to industrial distribution through a general understanding of Fastenal and its competitors and how it markets its products and services
·        Intern will understand how Fastenal approaches sales growth through direct interaction with our customers (inside and outside sales).
·        Intern will acquire skills including inside and outside sales, distribution, marketing, merchandising, procurement, and other support areas to get a broad view of the industrial and construction supply industry.
·        Intern will gain a working knowledge of how Fastenal’s distribution model adds to the overall success of the business.
·        Intern will gain an understanding of asset management in relation to profit margins.
·        Intern will have the opportunity to learn professional business etiquette in dealing with customers and coworkers.
·        Intern’s knowledge will be tested throughout the course of the internship through small exercises, evaluations, and projects.
·        The intern’s ability to be proactive will be demonstrated through an encompassing project which will be decided on by the intern, mentor, and District Manager.

REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
·        18 years of age or over
·        A valid driver's license and the ability to meet our driving record requirements
·        Possess or are working towards a degree in Business/Marketing OR have equivalent industry experience and knowledge of the local market
·        Excellent written and oral communication skills
·        Possess strong computer skills and math aptitude
·        Exhibit strong aptitude for sales
·        Highly motivated, self-directed, and customer service oriented
·        Demonstrate our core values of ambition, innovation, integrity and teamwork
·        Ability to lift, slide and lower packages that typically weigh 25lbs-50lbs and up to 75lbs
·        Ability to pass the required drug screen

Candidate’s home location will be established based on school schedule and location closest to candidates home. Candidate’s preference will be weighted very heavily in choosing location.
