Team Assembly Line Machine Operator

December 2019 - August 2020 • Clearfield, UT

What I liked

It was good pay for hard work, and my coworkers were a lovely bunch. Making recreational plastic products on an assembly line gave me a good understanding of how the manufacturing world works, and the company ran it very well.

What I wish was different

I was working there when the coronavirus pandemic became a big issue- everything still got done on time, we being essentially workers and all, but all of the restrictions gave us less room to operate and socialize on breaks.

Advice

Make sure you're eating healthy and drinking plenty of water as it's some physically draining work at times. If you're looking for more technically skilled positions they need a few engineers, as I'm told. Knowing Spanish is a good one too, a lot of the workers spoke mainly Spanish. I postponed a semester of school to make a good bit of money working here so I could buy a car and some other essentials. $16/hr if you work in Plastics manufacturing.

Production Machinist

April - August 2019 • Clearfield, UT

What I liked

I enjoyed being able to apply my skills and being able to make products by hand.

What I wish was different

I wished they offered flexible schedules instead of fixed schedules. Made it hard for me to be able to take any courses in the summer so I decided to take the semester off and focus on working instead.

Advice

It is a physical demanding job it will be difficult at first when you first start and there may be days you want to give up due to how physically demanding the job is. I would suggest others to not give up and to be aware that learning new skills and strength takes time.

Lifetime Products was awesome because I was able to watch first-hand the manufacturing of products and be on the floor when information was needed.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more accounting experience to be able to add more value to the company.

Advice

I loved working near home and think everyone should look for jobs in areas that they enjoy.
