Quality assurance

August 2019 • Salt Lake City, UT

What I liked

Working hours are flexible Get in contact with mandarin speakers

What I wish was different

I really have no complain, if there is something, I would say I want the contract duration to be shorter.

Advice

I want to share my job seeking experience. I started looking for a job before coming since I've already known job seeking takes more time for international students. I got my handshake account in January, and started to apply for jobs. (3 months before I came in) and had friends who worked in career service center who introduced me to school jobs. He would take me to see the employers and introduced me. I had my resume and cover letter ready. I didn't get a job until the end of July. I want to tell people even though I didn't get my job through handshake, but the career service center helped me a lot in getting this offer. (and the activities on handshake helped a lot too)

UI/UX Designer Intern

May - August 2019 • Riverton, UT

What I liked

I liked being an employee for the church. I loved the tasks we were in charge of. I felt like that threw us into the fire which was hard at first but we caught on and learned so much more than we would have.

What I wish was different

I can't really think of anything that would have been different. I loved all of it.

Advice

I don't know how other internships are but this is a full time all in internship. They are open to learning but you are thrown right into the full time working position doing things a real UX designer would be doing.

Missionary

April 2018 - October 2019 • Nauvoo, IL

What I liked

I loved learning more about the gospel of Jesus Christ and helping others understand it's importance in our lives. Also I loved learning about the people who lived in Nauvoo and the living history aspect of serving there. The community of missionaries quickly became family to me as we all genuinely strived to live the gospel to the fullest in our lives as the people in the 1840's did. That contributes to the special spirit that fills Nauvoo.

What I wish was different

I wish we would have had more time to really get to serve and know all of the missionaries that served with us like the Facilities Management and Young Performing Missionaries.

Advice

Go and experience the spirit of Nauvoo yourselves! Even if you're not serving there, you can feel of and be part of the history and community of the early members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! Also, if you want to see the pageants that show in the summer there, go the last week of performances to beat the worst of the crowds! Just bring 40% deet bug spray and sunscreen :)
